A large kitchen with separate work areas and a clean, uncluttered look was requested by this husband who loves to cook, and his wife, who does the baking. To accommodate their requests, the old kitchen and dining rooms were combined, doubling the size of the new kitchen. The dining area became part of the large living room, and another open wall enhances the flow between the rooms.
The two kitchens in one are separated by a large double bowl sink and all storage is duplicated. He has his big range, and she has an under cabinet oven.
They even have separate shelves for their cookbooks. Simple cabinets in natural maple have black accents to add drama.
A single red wall adds an Asian feel to the modern, minimalist style of this elegant and very functional kitchen.
