This kitchen was the first stage of an extensive renovation. The original house, though large, felt small because of all the rooms. My clients wanted everything open, so we proceeded to tear out walls and rework space. The other request was for nothing like the standard kitchen, boxed in with cabinets on all the walls. The solution was this huge island, surrounded with cabinets and work space, along with a cooktop, hood and second prep sink. Conveniently just behind the cooktop is the main large sink, with a garbage bin cut into the granite. Just hovering above the main counter, is a second large piece of marble that functions as dining area, seating 4 comfortably. Large pantry, fridge, double ovens and loads of open display space line the far walls, with a fireplace and home theatre area opposite the island. Bright colors, open space and all the mod cons – what more could you ask?!
