The original kitchen in this old Victorian was charming and historical but not practical for today's modern homeowner. My client requested a kitchen that would be attractive and welcoming, with all the modern conveniences, while maintaining the period feel of the house. And it had to blend with her first appliance purchase, the very distinctive looking AGA range along with being pet friendly for 2 dogs and a cat.
The painted cabinets in complimentary light colors are dressy without being formal while blending well with the dramatic color scheme in adjoining rooms. Glass doors in all the upper cabinets make the room seem larger and matching panels hide appliances. The island is the true star in this elegant room, topped with a single slab of unique blue and white granite. The animals were accommodated with special storage for pet food and extra granite slabs to hold food and water bowls.
